Margeret - known as Peggy - founded her riding centre in 1967 and and became affiliated to the Riding for the Disabled Association. Some 10 years later she and her team joined NWRAH, the North West Riding Association for the Handicapped. In 2004, in recognition of her hard work and dedication, the centre was re-named the Margaret Haes Riding Centre. The charity is an independent organisation that relies on donations for the upkeep of the stables. It has embarked on a comprehensive refurbishment project to improve the facilities. Volunteers continue to provide riding opportunities for the disabled from as far afield as Rochdale, Wigan and Bolton. The charity has helped hundreds of physically and mentally disabled children and adults enjoy the experience of riding over the West Pennine Moors.f you have a special need, or are a parent or carer of someone you think may benefit from our services, please contact us for a chat or to make an appointment to come along and look around our facilities. We always need volunteer helpers, so if you can spare an hour or two to help the disabled riders, we would be delighted to hear from you. 01706 821337www.margarethaes@wordpress.com
